As somebody pointed out to me in a comment to one of posts, (It might have been Eky, but I’m not sure, and I’m too damned lazy to go back a check!), there seems to be an ENORMOUS amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth coming from “the other side of the aisle” lately.

I can’t remember when the last time was the Conservative Right in this country has been so up in arms and SO distraught over the President of the United States and his policies! I mean, it is really something when their leader, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, states publicly that he hopes that The President fails! (Now, remember Obama is the first president in the 21st Century to be elected by THE MAJORITY of the voters in this country, and they voted for him because they LIKED the changes that he was promising to make! And Mr. Limbaugh hopes he fails. ) In other words, Limbaugh hopes that America fails, and that the people who elected the new president fail! The absolute audacity of this manjust blows my mind! In essence, he said to the MAJORITY of the voting public, “Your vision is wrong; mine is right. Therefore, I’m against you.” Talk about arrogance!

There is also a lot of talk from the Conservative Right these days about “taking the country back.” Taking it back from whom? The people who voted for Obama? Again, THE MAJORITY of the people? (As I recall, an obscure American once said that we are a country with “a government BY THE PEOPLE”, not “BY THE SELECT FEW” or “BY THE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS”.

As far as I’m concerned, during the last election, we DID “take our country back!”

There is a conservative talk show host here in CT, (a Rush wannabe), who, for about six weeks, was positively gleeful every time he cut to Market Watch to check on how the New York Stock Exchange was doing. He seemed positively elated that the bottom was dropping out of everything, and we were all losing our retirement funds! He would make the segue by exclaiming, “And now, let’s go see how Mr. Obama’s stimulus package is working out!!!!!”

I’ve noticed that, since March 6, he hasn’t been saying that. He changed the introduction to a deadpan, “And now, let’s check out Wall Street.”

Do you think that the switch in his demeanor could have something to do with the fact that, now that Obama’s stimulus package is starting to take effect, The Market has soared upwards 1,455 points in a little over two weeks? (On March 6, it was at 6469. At the closing bell yesterday, it was at 7924.)



Do you remember a while back when the Republicans were making a huge deal about Obama’s so-called relationship with Bill Ayers, who was the founder of The Weather Underground back in the 1960’s? (For those of you who don’t recall, The Weather Underground was an extremist faction of a group called the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society), whose main function was to oppose the war in Vietnam.

The Weathermen, as they were called, actually declared war against the U.S., and carried out some domestic terror acts.

Since that time, Bill Ayers has been working in the Chicago area as a social (and school) reformist, and he hosted a party to introduce Obama to the national political stage.

The Republicans seized upon this connection, and, using guilt by association, all but called Barack a terrorist because of his association with a former terrorist.

Okay, you wanna talk about terrorists? Who is a bigger terrorist than Osama Bin Laden?

Has it been brought up that Bin Laden’s family, The House of Saud, and the Bush family have been friends for over twenty years, and have entered into business transactions together? George Bush, Sr. has actually eaten meals with them at their table!

It is also hinted, among other things, that Osama himself worked to get George W. re-elected in 2004. He did it by releasing a tape of himself speaking about new terrorist actions planned against the US. The tape was released just prior to the election to scare the living hell out of US voters.

After reading some of the articles listed at that website, I have a better understanding of why Dubya did some of things that he did.

First of all, we are fighting a war in Iraq, and pouring trillions of dollars into it. One of the primary reasons for invading that country was to eradicate Al Quaida, which, come to find out, was never there to begin with. (It’s there now, because we pissed off enough Iraqis, and we turned the place into an Al Quaida breeding ground!)

However, could it possible that we are there because Bush KNEW that Osama wasn’t?

Most people in military intelligence today believe that Bin Laden is hiding out in the border mountains of Pakistan, which are riddled with Al Quaida training camps.

Are you aware that since Obama has taken office two months ago, we have flown more bombing sorties in Pakistan than in all the time that George and Dick were in power?

If George and the boys really wanted to get rid of Obama to make the world safer for Democracy, where were the bombs in Pakistan?





Finally, one of the biggest arguments against Obama was that he was going to be soft of terrorists and make this country unsafe. The conservative talk show hosts were breathing heavy about this for weeks when The President announced his plan to gradually reduce the US military presence in Iraq!

However, I haven’t heard Limbaugh and his lemmings crowing too much about the above-mentioned increased number of bombing missions in Pakistan, nor have they said too much about the fact that we are about to deploy THOUSANDS OF ADDED TROOPS to fight Al Quaida and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

I’m glad we took our country back.
