1066 and 'Halley's Comet'

There are reports of a bright 'star' in early 1066, around the time of

Edward the Confessor’s death. It was also shown at the Coronation

sequence of Harold Godwinson (King Harold) in the Bayeux Tapestry, it

turns out, that it was Halley’s Comet, but at this time frame, people

looked at it as a ‘bad omen’. . . .

Of course, it wasn't called Halley's back then.

I know - it was named after Halley in 1758. I wonder what the people made of seeing that phenomenon way back then?
