Before I start my usual, I have to rant, let me apologize in advance. I think it is starting to hit me. Homesickness. Maybe it is that this is the first birthday I have had without my friends and family beside me. Maybe it is getting tired of people looking at me funny when I speak, and how they treat me over it. I have been getting the least critical of the critical patients. The least drips, the least responsibility. Some wouldn't complain about easy work, but I see this as a stab at my intelligence, which does piss me off. I don't know, but I guess after this term, I am definately waving goodbye to the state of Delaware. Where to next we haven't decided, but I know I am done here.
Anyway, on to the usual stuff. Some first on the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. I have to agree with this author, it's time to call it what it is, occupation, not war. Have you been wondering what has been going on from the perspective of the Iraqi Resistance? Here is a transcript of a recent interview with M.Al-Shammari, ( head of the Islamic Army of Iraq/IAI )...
Petraeus did not make any progress in Iraq. This is nothing but another lie in the series of lies started by Bush with his WMD’s. There is no progress.
The Resistance has not changed its strategy which is the end of the occupation. Petraeus alleged that the attacks are down by 60% when 2007 was the year that witnessed the highest rate of attacks.
The Resistance did change its tactics but not its strategy. The Americans are desperate for some calm before the November elections, but the Resistance will decide when to implement an upsurge in its attacks against the occupier, maybe during certain “crucial moments†but this is up to the Resistance to decide when and how. As I said, there is a change of tactics but not of strategy.
Meanwhile, this past week in Iraq proved to be one of the deadliest in 2008 for U.S. GIs.. Furthermore, a released report finds that U.S. military personele account for 20% of suicides in the U.S. So let's not think that once they are no longer stop-lossed, they come home and all is well. And for the Architects of this illegal invasion and occupation, promotions all around.
Bush finally admits his top officials approved the illegal practice of Waterboarding. But Waterboarding isn't the only problem of course, recent drawings of techniques used in Gitmo have been censored, gee, wonder why. This one, not censored of course, is the same artist's reflections on the force feedings he endured.

"But when the president does it, that means it is not illegal."-R.M. Nixon.
A little closer to home, you may have noticed the rising cost of foods. Of course, this is due partially to the rising energy costs, which corporation push off onto consumers. Soon even those without cars will feel a big pinch to their wallets, just to eat. Worse yet, has the subprime mortgage swindle put us on the edge of complete economic collapse which will undoubtedly occur in our lifetime? Some economists say yes. And prepare yourselves for more domestic spying around the corner, the plans are made.
