I am still out their looking for work. Am networking with friends and posting on Job web sites. Am waiting on a couple of responses and follow-ups to recent interviews.
However, I have found that posting on Job boards is totally useless. The only responses received come from either internet Spammers who give you their puffery and hype of how great their opportunity is and how much you can earn (pie in the sky inflated numbers), yet fail to mention the costs; or those fraud companies that promise to hire you as their financial consultant and where you collect money and then forward payments via Western Union.
Now, I stay off of these boards- and only contact brick and mortar places, or get referrals through friends I know.
Being in the Education field, I used to have no difficulty in getting work. However, what with the financial crisis in California and the depressed economic conditions in the country, even education is taking a major hit.
I am still not giving up- eventually- I will get back into the work force. I hope that it will be soon- it's very difficult having to balance all of the bills on an income of only $492.00 per month (net) for the past 6 months.
It will get better- just don't know when.
Keep me in your thoughts.
