Fine was reduced from 167.00 to 57.00!
The damned officer didn't even remember me!
He recalled every single person there but had no recollection of who I was. In fact, asked me who the officer was that issued me the ticket. I said I was sure it was him...he then said he'd come see me soon as he was not sure what to do with my case.
Short story, I told him I was just going to plead guilty as I could not afford to take more time off work this and he said, "Ok, I'll ask them to reduce it to 20.00 for you and see if they'll give you six months to pay."
Well, they reduced it but not to what he wanted and they gave me time to pay but four months and not the six he asked for. This officer who issued me the ticket was almost acting as my council.
Clearly he did not recognize me as the 'working girl' he had imagined seeing last year and felt very perplexed as to why he would issue me a ticket in the first place.
All in all, it was a good day and I forgive the officer for assuming I was something I was not. He learned something today about presumptions and so did I.....I know I never wanna go back to traffic court ever again. And I will never presume that I am automatically guilty if I do. (Pretty sure in hind-site I would have won this lil' battle)
