Odds and Ends

My poor old brain is more scattered than usual and I do not really have a point but feel like writing. Trying to finish a report on flow of bitumen (which is a goop like asphalt) and water. This is terrible stuff to pump through a pipe; it comes out of the ground as they pump steam down to force out tar, of which there are huge deposits in Canada and plans are for it to be North America's new source of oil. What a way to supplement your Social (in)Security! Oh well at least I don't have to smell it. Just finished Grisham's Appeal - not that good, but I agree with the premise that the rich get richer and the poor stay poor - what else?. But am starting what looks to be a great book - "The Punishment of Virtue" by Sarah Chayes about her years in Afghanistan after 9/11 up to now. Hope to write some about it later. More rain this week; when it is not raining the air is damp and it feels cold even at 45 F, especially when the wind is blowing. This week end looks good though and Honey and I will drive over to the beach if I get this report to a good stopping place. Obama and Hillary have both been here in Eugene in the last week and I did not see either. Getting too lazy to actually go to things that can be plainly seen on TV. Like the Memphis-Kansas game tonight. Very exciting game - sad for my Memphis living son-in-law. Kansas is a LOT better than I thought they were and deserved to win. I did vote for Coach Self as best coach in a poll a couple of weeks ago. At Church this week we had to alert the folks that in two weeks we need to vote on whether we sell all the church property and follow the Lord's lead as to what we do next. We just cannot support the facility any longer and seem to be losing rather than gaining members. Well it says in Exodus that when the Cloud of the Lord lifted from the Tabernacle and moved on, the children of Israel pulled up stakes and followed the Cloud. We will be doing the same I guess. And that is about all that is on my mind. There I feel Better! Promise to not do it often. Cheers.

Sometimes, you just gotta get it off your chest. That's why we are here. Sad about your church, but God will provide the answer, whatever it might be.
