Last Throes of Winter
Last night we had a hard freeze, 26 F (or minus something serious in Celsius). The Pansies (reported earlier in this or the other blog to remind me of the women of waring countries - deceptively tough and resilient) looked like they had had it this time. Yet when we came back from church, the sun was shining and so were the pansies (way to go, girls!). Then this afternoon we had a sleet storm. Now it is sunny again and the somewhat beaten down pansies are again hopefully on the road to recovery (the sermon today was about Hope). Well I believe that winter in the Northwest (which without benefit of statistical history seems to defy Global Warming) is in it's last throes. I know Mr Chaney (pardon the expression) has been saying for years that the Insurgency (now called "lawless elements" I think) is in it's last throes, but faith in the Seasons predates faith in the Administration and is sure to be more reliable (they don't celebrate the Spring Equinox for nothing). He may rant and rage and struggle some more, but Old Man Winter is about done for here. We can say the same for the Chaney/Bush Administration. (Wish we knew what to say about Iraq.)
