Following the Money in Tibet

I don't know why the news blurbs we hear never get to the bottom of things. For example do we really think that the US supported Tibetan movement for independence and the forceful Chinese suppression of the same is about democracy and religious freedom (praying to Buddha, or something)? Nope, following the money, with help of Google (bless them) we find that China's largest deposits by far of copper (shortage now - due to bullets?), lead, zinc, and other minerals are, guess where?, Tibet!. And China just built a new very expensive rail line there for what? Tourists? Nope, copper, lead, iron, and zinc - a reported 128 billion plus USD worth. The US would I suppose want to make their own deals for those resources. Anyway, following the money still seems to uncover the real motive for most politics. The Indonesians have an expression: "ada undang di balik batu" - "there is a shrimp under the rock".
