Yesterday, my dear friends Maurine and Doug Long invited a house full of guests for a surprise 50th birthday party for her sister, Arlyn. Maurine and Doug flew in Timmy, one of Arlyn's son's for the occasion. After picking up Timmy from the airport and surprising Arlyn at home with Timmy's arrival, Maurine came home to a house completely decorated by her husband Doug, all with 50 stuff!

The guests arrived, which included all her coworkers, Susan, Maria, Lori, Janet, another great friend, Carol, Ron and I, as well as her nephew's Russel and Andrew, and son Jonathan. Timmy was bringing her to the house for the surprise, and she thought she was going out to dinner.

We hung around through 2 phone calls, waiting patiently for her arrival. We were all shushed to be quiet, while she asked Maurine what she thought would look good to wear that evening, all the while we were snickering about the great surprise. Finally, the second phone call, came to alert their arrival.

Lo and behold, Arlyn comes in through the front door for the shock of her life, her surprise 50th birthday party! There were lots of tears, laughter and joy. The food was spectacular, shrimp, chicken wings, sandwich rings, salads, fruit, Lambrusco punch, and of course the cake! Fun was had by all and we partied into the night!
