JOLIET -- Craig Stebic's in-laws think he is intentionally dragging his feet on their child visitation case.
Lisa Stebic's parents and grandparents, Lawrence and Judith Ruttenberg and Milton and Charlotte Ruttenberg, filed a petition in November seeking visitation rights to the two Stebic children, ages 11 and 12.
On Feb. 14, judge Robert Brumund denied a motion from Craig Stebic to dismiss the Ruttenbergs' petition. When Stebic's attorney, Dion Davi, followed up with a motion to reconsider that ruling, the Ruttenbergs' attorney Timothy Daw filed an emergency motion requesting a hearing Wednesday.
In his motion Daw pointed out that Craig Stebic was able to file a motion Feb. 29 seeking the return of his vehicles and 24 guns that were taken by police during a search of his house last spring, but that Stebic has yet to respond to the visitation petition that has been pending for three months.
Lisa Stebic was reported missing May 1, the morning after she was last seen at her Plainfield home.
In July, police named Craig Stebic a "person of interest" in her disappearance.
Craig Stebic has not been charged in connection with the case, which remains a missing person investigation.
Because Brumund's courtroom was too busy Wednesday, the hearing on the emergency motion was rescheduled for April 7 in Will County court.
