2008/11/01 08:08 AM In connection with this I received another article in my mailbox regarding the healing power of tea.
Enjoy the article and the tea :-)
https://www.beliefnet.com/Health/2008/09/The-Healing-Power-of-Tea.aspx
p.s. Shirley, for some odd reason Halloween and seeing all the witch brooms reminded me of an old OM from around Halloween time last year regarding brooms. Although it has nothing to do with witches riding brooms it is a great OM and prehaps you will enjoy it.

2008/11/01 07:35 AM In my understanding - the Japanese tea ritual demonstrates intention, being in and savoring the moment - a lesson on a way to live life. The purpose is not the end result - ie the cup of tea - but rather the entire process.
That is one of the messages I was reminded of when reading this article - -
This morning I broke with my morning ritual and am enjoying a cup of husband's coffee with 18% cream - omg - what a rebel I am :)
Chuckles and cheers to all this Saturday morning - first day of November -
Annette :) -

2008/11/01 06:46 AM Didn't we all have make believe tea parties when were little girls? Isn't that a "ritual" of some kind?
Yes, I do know what a Samovar is used for. But, we used it to make tea parties. His mom was like a little girl and we used to have tea parties with sugar cubes and everything.
You can't do that with coffee, it's just not the same thing.

2008/10/31 4:03 PM This is a silly article, especially on the celebration of Halloween or Samhain, when so much rich material could have been written about.
The samovar wasn't intended to be part of a tea ritual. This was a way to make a vast amount of tea and get it done with so it didn't have to be made all day. The end of it tastes pretty awful. The samovars are beautiful, but I wouldn't call their use a ritual.
Where was that good Halloween message?

2008/10/31 3:53 PM so, we've come to this......... tea drinking? how sad, when there are infinite subjects to explore and investigate. the consuming of tea? just how many intelligent, insightful opinions can there be for something so limp and uninteresting? and on all hallows-eve. how very uninspired, not to mention uninteresting.

2008/10/31 08:10 AM Tea is my beverage - black, green, white or chai - my Starbucks treat is a green tea latte - no fat no foam - with a chocolate peanut butter bar - a weekly ritual for me - yum!!!
Hot tea with honey or stevia in the morning after my smoothie and I am good till 3ish - then another cuppa to get me through.
Guess I do have rituals - never saw them as such.
Happy Halloween all - and Shers my friend have a glorious birthday - :)
Now for a sip of tea - ahhhhhh!
Cheers all

2008/10/31 06:03 AM I love tea (iced, hot, green or black). . .every morning I make my tea and drink it while reading the OM.
General Mills had the best sugar free Chai Tea Latte. I looked for it everywhere and they have quit selling it at the grocery chains and Amazon is out of it but I learned to make my own and it is wonderful.
A tea toast to all my fellow OMer's.

2008/10/31 06:00 AM Good morning fellow Omers,
Thanks so much Pathfinder (Rachel) for the Birthday wishes - I graciously take them into my heart.
I'm not a tea drinker, like Rich, I drink it when I feel like I'm getting a cold or such. My ritual is with coffee - just one big cup in the morning - ahhhh
I've done wedding ceremonies for Asian couples where they did have the tea ceremony honoring their elders. It's quite beautiful - the grace in which they do it. They are very aware of each step. Totally in the moment - totally connected to what they're doing and to their families. I felt privileged to have witnessed it more than once.
May we all be as aware and honor each and every movement we make - make our living on this planet a sacred ritual.
Much loving, joy, blessings, and lots of laughing, Shers

2008/10/31 05:09 AM I am very into tea rituals. When I went to Finland I went into a tea shop and it's filled with nothing but big cannisters of tea. In Russia I brought back a Samovar and we had our own tea rituals right here.

2008/10/31 03:43 AM I have a "Ritual" while making the morning pot of coffee. Four scoops with water and fill the thermos with hot water. (that's to take the chill off so the last cup tastes like the first). Feed the animals and by that time the coffee's done. One cup in the morning,.....ahhhhhhh, what a way to start the day.
Flavored tea with two teaspoon's of honey,........when I'm feeling under the weather.
light and love, Rich
