What Does Peace Look Like? a Call for All Artists

The objective of this online exhibit of "A Peace Of..." is to:

To showcase visual artistic representations of the effect/affect of peace on each of us individually, on our communities, and on the global level. Because this show will explore peace, it may also be looking at why there is a need for peace - how war and violence affect us all as human beings, how our community is then constantly addressing recovery & healing. Are we served well by art in being this versed in grief and healing? Would we lose the need for art if there were peace? And what might it mean for all of us if we instead lived in a non-violent world, how much more productive, artistic, developed would we be as a species?

Some types of work themes could include:

* What does peace look like?
* What does peace mean to you personally and in your community?
* How do you question the meaning of peace?
* How do you explore peace via artwork?
* Works inspired by peace demonstrations.
* How we connect and disconnect with peace and violence, healing and grieving?
* Inspirations to continue manifesting peaceful lives even in the face of war.
* Raising awareness about politics, elections, ourselves as “The People”
* Art as Peacemaker, teacher, voice of the oppressed

Arts from any discipline are welcome for consideration: painting, photography, tiles, fabric arts, illustration, sculpture, collage, digital works, ATCs and more. I'm even glad to consider poetry or bits of writing if incorporated into some kind of design or visual art that is sent in as a jpg. We'll even consider YouTube type videos that we can code into the blog -- for those of you who might have vid of spoken word or music or short film. So I do mean "any discipline" that can be shown in some way on the blog! Because this is an online exhibit, we will not require the actual physical piece of art, but instead really good digital representation of the piece we can display here on the blog and in promotion pieces for the exhibit.

To submit works for consideration, please do the following:

1) Send email to kara@motherhenna.com -- be *certain* the subject line of your email says "Submission for A Peace Of..." -- otherwise it's liable to get lost in the storm of spam we get here everyday!

2) In the body of your email, please tell us why you want to participate and how your submitted images will relate to the theme of "A Peace Of". Please also include a few lines of a bio for yourself. This is all text that may get posted along with your image in the blog if it is accepted.

3) Please include in the body of your email, links to the images you are submitting for consideration. This means the images are online somewhere like your website, Flicker, PictureTrail, your blog, etc. Please include the full links to be cut and pasted into a browser for us to surf out and see your images!

4) Be sure you put all that info in the *body* of the email because absolutely no attached docs will be opened!

5) If your images are accepted, we can snag them from your link OR we will email you to ask you send us the images at higher resolution so that we can also use them for print promotions.

Notes about Rights:

* You agree that you have explicit rights to the images you submit to us. If a "previously published at" credit is required, you are solely responsible for telling us that!
* You retain copyrights to the original artwork and the images we display.
* You are granting us a non-exclusive right to electronically display your images and to use higher resolution versions of the same images in print promotional materials for the "A Peace Of" project, produced by Mother Henna/HennaHealing/KotaPress.
* You are granting us archival rights which means that once the piece is posted electronically online, it stays there for as long as our blog exhibit is available.
* You understand that we are not "representing for sale" the original artwork in any way. If we get inquiries from parties interested in purchase, we will point them toward whatever contact info you include in your bio with submission.
* If you have any other questions about rights, please email to ask us before submitting.

Peace, so sought after and elusive... but when it's found, there's nothing like it. I wish you peace...
