FDA is advising wholesalers, retailers and operators of restaurants
and food service establishments not to sell or serve any roasted
pistachios or products containing roasted pistachios until the source
of the pistachios can be determined. They should also not be serving or
selling any raw shelled pistachios or products containing raw
pistachios. Firms should check with their suppliers to determine
whether the source of the pistachios is Setton Pistachio of Terra
Bella, Inc. ("Setton"). If the pistachios were processed by Setton
during 2008 then the pistachios and any products made with the
pistachios should not be sold at this time. FDA will provide further
information as its investigation progresses.
In
addition to checking with your supplier, you may be able to confirm
that pistachios or pistachio products are associated with Setton by
checking the list of products being recalled because they contain
Setton pistachios. It is available on the FDA website at this link: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/pistachiorecall/index.cfm. This list is being updated regularly and does not reflect all products that may contain pistachios from Setton.
CAL-PURE
co-op of California pistachio growers and the Western Pistachio
Association have established a web site that lists firms that have
informed the web site sponsors that their products do not contain
pistachios from Setton. Information on this Web site has not been
verified by the FDA, and the Agency is not responsible for its
contents: www.pistachiorecall.org.
Manufacturers
may wish to inform customers and consumers about whether the
manufacturers' products could contain pistachios from Setton. For
