Just Received a Phone Call About This. FYI

Just searched the web for more info, I just received a phone call from an attorney filling a class action suite against this company.
My neighbor friend had one of these. And just weeks before she passed away she had some of the wires checked.

So now I'm wondering if there was a connection?
Being in her late 60's and having no one here to ask for her to have an autopsy, well how would her out of town cousins know?

Well here's what I found on the Internet:

Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, represents heart patients, from seniors to children, who received defective defibrillator leads manufactured by Medtronic Inc. Leads are thin insulated wires connected to a defibrillator that carry electric impulses to the heart. Our clients' leads fractured resulting in them suffering repetitive and devastating electrical shocks.

On October 15, 2007, due to reports of at least five patient deaths associated with the defibrillator leads, Medtronic issued a recall of the product. The recalled leads have been implanted in over 200,000 patients since 2004. On the same day of the recall, patients represented by Lieff Cabraser and co-counsel filed a series of personal injury and class action lawsuits against Medtronic. These were the first lawsuits filed against Medtronic in the nation.

How do I identify if I had the recalled lead? Read our Frequently Asked Questions on the Medtronic Recall page.

Medtronic has not disclosed the reason why their lead has failed and has downplayed in the media the failure rate of the product. We have investigated the case for months and have developed substantial evidence of Medtronic's alleged misconduct. The complaints allege that a design defect is responsible for the lead fractures. The complaints also allege that Medtronic failed to act timely in recalling the lead as it has known of a large number of failures of the device since at least the end of 2006.

Oh heavens! It is disgraceful if they had known for so long. To put so many people at risk. It was/is their very lives that depended on this device!!!
