The future is so free, so unknown.
A blank canvas, not yet splotched with paint.
The image in my mind not yet concrete.
Lines and colors swirl through my thoughts,
Their destinations yet unknown,
Designs ever shifting and contorting.
Each day I pick up my paintbrush,
Ready to brush the canvas with the first strokes of certainty
That never appear.
Why don’t you paint?
They ask, as I return at the end of each day,
My canvas still white as snow.
They don’t see the beauty of the blank space,
The freedom for anything to happen,
The possibilities hovering in the air,
Waiting for the right moment to be snatched up.
They don’t see the dazzling colors all around them,
Casting glimmers of light onto the fabric’s surface.
How do I paint tomorrow
When I have no idea what new surprises
Tomorrow will bring?
Why should I limit what I could paint tomorrow
But my untamed brushstrokes today?
So instead of casting my expectations of today
Onto the pristine stillness of tomorrow,
I will sit back, dream, and watch the colors flow by.
FROM: The Rhythm of Life - by Matthew Kelly
"A great purposelessness has descended upon modern civilizations. People at large have lost any sense of the meaning and purpose of life; and without an understanding of our own purpose, there can be no true commitment. Whether that commitment is to marriage, family, study, work, God, relationships, or the simple resolutions of our lives, it will be almost impossible to fulfill without a clear and practical understanding of our purpose. Commitment and purpose go hand in hand."
"It has been my experience that nothing changes a person’s life more than the discovery of one solitary truth: There is a meaning and purpose to life. More specifically: There is a meaning and purpose to your life."

Living Every Day With Passion & Purpose
Read by Matthew Kelly
Matthew Kelly exposes the lifestyle challenges and problems that face us in this age obsessed with noise, speed and perpetual activity. The Rhythm of Life is a clear-eyed rejection of the chaotic lifestyle that has captured the world, written with common sense, humor and insight. Kelly synthesizes theology, psychology and storytelling to unpack the paradox of being happy. He asks the reader to find a life-changing rhythm by choosing a central purpose and becoming "the best version of yourself." With examples drawn from his own life and diverse cast of characters he maps the way to a meaningful life. Kelly uses parables, philosophical reflections, personal confession, appeals to common sense and prayer to help the reader focus on what is important in life.
