Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.

Autumn wins you best by this, its mute Appeal to sympathy for its decay.

October’s poplars are flaming torches lighting the way to winter.

The Autumn is old; The sere leaves are flying; He hath gather’d up gold, And now he is dying….. Old age, begin sighing!

I saw old autumn in the misty morn Stand shadowless like silence, listening To silence.

For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.

Autumn arrives in early morning, but spring at the close of a winter night.

It was one of those perfect English autumnal days which occur more frequently in memory than in life.

The spring, the summer, the chill autumn, angry winter, change their wonted liveries.

Change is a measure of time and, in the autumn, time seems speeded
up.

What was is not and never again will be; what is is change.

Every leaf speaks bliss to me,
fluttering from the autumn tree.

Sorrow and the scarlet leaf,
Sad thoughts and sunny weather;
Ah me! this glory and this grief
Agree not well together!

The foliage has been losing its freshness through the month of
August, and here and there a yellow leaf shows itself like the first
gray hair amidst the locks of a beauty who has seen one season too many.

The leaves fall, the wind blows, and the farm country slowly changes from the summer cottons into its winter wools.

The year’s in wane; There is nothing adorning; The night has no eve, And the day has no morning; Cold winter gives warning!

Autumn burned brightly, a running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees.

A breath, whence no man knows, Swaying the grating weeds, it blows;
It comes, it grieves, it goes. Once it rocked the summer rose.

If you do not sow in the spring you will not reap in the autumn.
Summer makes me drowsy.
Autumn makes me sing.
Winter’s pretty lousy,
but I hate Spring.
