Act Great ~ Hafiz ... ... 9-11 Related

It is eight years since that day that we will never forget; it is etched in our memories forever.  What is harder to remember is the unity and sorrow here and in virtually every nation.  For a moment, the world was united against madness, but fear and folly have taken their toll.  So, today's posting is not about the War on Terror but about the war on fear and despair.

 "When I despair, I
remember that all through history the ways of truth
and love have always won.
There have been tyrants, and murderers, and
for a time they can seem
invincible, but in the end they always fall.
Think of it ...
always."~ Mahatma Gandhi

ACT
GREAT

What is the
key To untie the knot of your mind’s suffering? What Is the
esoteric secret
To slay the crazed one whom each of us

Did
wed and who can
ruin

Our heart’s and eye’s exquisite  tenderLandscape?

Hafiz has
found two emerald words that

Restored Me

 That I now
cling to as I would sacred
Tresses of my Beloved’s hair:

Act
great.

My dear, always act great.

What is the
key
To untie the knot of the mind’s suffering?

 Benevolent
thought, sound
And movement.

(The Gift –
versions of Hafiz by Daniel Ladinsky)

Joe Riley to Panhala>>On the morning of September 11,I was typing in a
poem by Hafiz.  I didn't have the news on.
A friend of mine who lived in New Jersey was
playing with a new digital camera he had bought the day before.  This was
the first picture he took with it and he sent it out on the Internet almost
immediately, before the second plane stuck.  When the photograph arrived, I
turned on the news and tried to call my son (who lived two blocks from the World
Trade Center).  After the shock wore off some, I inserted the
photograph and sent the poem to the Hafiz group.
Many in Iran and elsewhere use the poems of
Hafiz to divine the future.  To me, Hafiz speaks to the
present....
