Happened to be surfing last night and caught a series, called studio 42 with Bob Costas. He happened to have 3 retired umpires on the show and this caught my attention as, in a previous post, I can not believe that major league baseball does not put instant replay into their equation for the betterment of the game. Much to my surprise, all 3 of the former umpires thought that this was not agood idea as the ummps are correct most of the time. Well, "most" is not good enough when it comes to the post season. Too much is at stake. So, lets put this into perspective. All 3 are retired and all 3 umped in an era that has long since gone. Sure mistakes will be made. However, "most" does not cut it in the post season. Put on some younger, current umpires and I'd be interested in their take on this issue. For now, if you want some laughs, entertainment, and some good old baseball jargon, tune in. Next week, Sostas will be interviewing the old SF Giant great, Juan, leg kick, Marichal. Should be good TV entertainment.
