While the world was coping with its usual news messes, we had our own personal little world of intrigue unfold on Blogster.
It
seems one of the far-right wingers decided to get creative, inventing a
person who didn't exist. He (she) was successful in fooling both sides
of the aisle on Blogster until recently.
I
must say the creator of RCMO, or Richard C. Chalmers, certainly
endowed him with a plethora of attributes--he was, at various times, a
Vietnam vet who had lost both his legs, a Congressional Medal of Honor
recipient among numerous war decorations, a philanthropist who gave
money to establish a drug and rehabilitation center as well as money to
rebuild a VFW facility. He supposedly held an undergraduate degree
from the University of Virginia and a master's from the University of
Missouri at Columbia and had served as sheriff of his home county in
spite of the fact that his face was disfigured to the point that he
would not post a picture of himself.
Let
me just say upfront that I think we all know who made up this wild
tale. I won't mention names but he(she) also got the bright idea to
start "blogsterflies"--that got squelched fairly fast by Blogster on
the grounds of copyright infringement. If it wasn't he, it was his
wife, who recently claimed that RCMO was her father.
My
money is on the wife, since her husband was writing already under
another name. In addition, the style and vindictiveness has the touch
of a woman. Men are more straightforward and not nearly as nasty as a
woman can be. Â Whether she modeled this character on someone or
created an alter-ego is hard to say. But the point is, she perpetrated
this fraud way too long.
This
imaginary person was one of the most vicious, nasty people on
Blogster. I personally got RCMO booted for a period of time for
remarks made about ekyprogressive and me.
About
a month ago RCMO supposedly got kicked off again for copyright
infringement. In too much trouble to come back on line, the anonymous
person behind RCMO decided to kill him off. So the next thing we hear
is that RCMO had been killed in a chain saw accident and bled to
death. Since he had no legs, where did he cut himself so severely to
bleed to death?Â
Enter mmmhollywould, who had had some private conversations with RCMO and just wanted to send some flowers to his funeral(https://www.blogster.com/mmmhollywould/internet-suicide-the-rc-emo-hoax).
It
soon became evident that no Richard C. Chalmers had died in the county
where he said he lived. One by one Holly checked out his allegations,
only to find everyone of them false--no Medal of Honor, no
philanthropic donations, no degree from either university, no sheriff
EVER by that name in the town or county where he allegedly lived, no
obituary in either his hometown paper, no reference to his death in the
St. Louis Dispatch.
Some
conservatives have tried to defend this fraud;Â some have condemned
it. If I were a conservative, this is one pony I wouldn't ride far
enough to break a sweat!
Internet fraud is not something with which to trifle.https://www.senate.gov/reference/common/faq/How_to_contact_senators.htm
