Free Trade, Niagra Falls, and a Nostalgic Moment

Something To Think About:

How Can

"self-help group"

be a

"group?"

Isn't That

an

Oxymoron?

Just My Opinion:

Free Trade Agreements are destroying America's economy.  The United States should withdraw from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and repeal the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

We then could impose tariffs to protect the jobs of the remaining business and industries in the United States on those good and services being imported, many from our own American countries that have outsourced.

With tariffs, some of those companies just MIGHT decide to return.

So many of the jobless right now face the bleak outlook of never being rehired because their company no longer exists.

Our economy cannot recover if we continue losing jobs overseas because of cheap labor.

Places I Want To Visit Before I Die:

Niagra Falls At Night

The Niagara Falls are voluminous waterfalls on the Niagara River, straddling theinternational border between the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York. The falls are 17 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York and 75 miles (120 km) south-southeast of Toronto, Ontario, between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York.

Niagara Falls is composed of two major sections separated by Goat Island: Horseshoe Falls, the majority of which lies on the Canadian side of the border, and American Falls on the American side. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls are also located on the American side, separated from the main falls by Luna Island.

Niagara Falls were formed when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation(the last ice age), and water from the newly formed Great Lakes carved a path through theNiagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean. While not exceptionally high, the Niagara Falls are very wide. More than 6 million cubic feet (168,000 m³) of water falls over the crest line every minute in high flow,[1] and almost 4 million cubic feet (110,000 m³) on average. It is the most powerful waterfall in North America.[2]

The Niagara Falls are renowned both for their beauty and as a valuable source ofhydroelectric power. Managing the balance between recreational, commercial, and industrial uses has been a challenge for the stewards of the falls since the 1800s.( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niagara_Falls)

Today's Funny:

With the help of a fertility specialist, a 75-year-old woman gives birth. All her relatives come to visit and meet the newest member of their family. When they ask to see the baby, the 75-year-old mother says: "Not yet."

A little later they ask to see the baby again. Again the mother says: "Not yet."

Finally they say: "When can we see the baby?"

And the mother says: "When the baby cries."

So they ask: "Why do we have to wait until the baby cries?"

The new mother says: "I forgot where I put it!"

News From Soonerland:

We are still in the deep freeze.  The temperature again did not make it above freezing.  The snow and icicycles remain.

Today, February l, is the birthday of my dear lifelong friend, Linda.  Happy Birthday!  Do you remember that wonderful trip that the four of us took to Oklahoma City to celebrate our 21st birthdays when we made you go into the liquor store in El Reno to buy champagne, hoping they would ask for your ID.

You returned with the champagne, announcing that you did NOT have to show your ID. Things were much more lax in those days, and we were all young, naive, and in love

Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end!
