Poison I--i--vee!

Returned to find the loveliest vine growing up our fence. The only problem is that it was poison ivy!!! Have no idea how it got in our back yard.

Daughter didn't realize what it was, but I was almost sure as soon as I saw it that it was the dreaded plant. I checked on my computer to be sure I was right.

It had all the signature features of poison ivy, including the notched leaves. So, it was off to Lowe's to look for something to kill it. Fortunately, Round-up had a product. I treated it with nearly half the bottle. Right now, it looks pretty sad. This product is supposed to kill not only the plant but also the root. I certainly hope it does.

I once had poison ivy so badly that I had to tie my hands at night to keep from scratching, which causes it to spread...never want to go through that again.

By the way, did you know that you cannot burn poison ivy or poison oak? The oil the leaves secrete, which is what people are allergic to, is so poisonous that the fumes from it when burned can cause severe lung problems and even death.

Just a little trivia in case the nasty plant decides to put in an appearance in your back yard too.”
