Holly and Kenna have always been the closest of sisters. Kenna was the best big sister I ever could have hoped for her to be.

Though she was four and a half years older, she would play with Holly for hours, keeping her entertained so that I could cook, clean or do laundry rather than having to worry about watching Holly's every move when she was small.

They rarely fought as some siblings do.

Holly in turn idolized Kenna, wanting to follow in her footsteps, doing everything that Kenna did. Now that they are adults, they remain so close, speaking on the phone almost daily, though they live in different states.

Kenna has always been Holly's rock; to this day, she turns to Kenna for help or advice when she has a problem .

Life has been good to Holly; Kenna, on the other hand, has had to struggle as a single mom. She lost her job due to the recession; went six months unemployed, then finally found a job but had to take a significant pay cut.

She really has to watch every penny, especially now. She has desperately needed a new dryer for over a year, as her old one takes forever to get clothes dry.

But the money just hasn't been there, so she has been doing the best she can with the one she has.

Today, Kenna got a call from Holly. It seems she and her husband went shopping last night for a new washer and dryer at Home Depot. While they were there, they picked out Kenna's Christmas present--a brand new dryer.

It will be delivered Tuesday. I have never been prouder of Holly than I was today when Kenna told me. We were both nearly in tears, just talking about it.
