A Little Christmas Cheer on a Cold Morning!

Dang!  It's cold outside!!!  The temperature is 19 degrees with a wind chill of minus one.  I needed something to get the blood flowing this morning, so I called in a few of my friends to do a little "aerobic" dancing with me  to limber up and warm up! .  Enjoy!!

Now that I've warmed up, I think I will throw a log on the fireplace and finish my latest book, EXTREME by Sharon Osbourne.

It's her autobiography, and it is truly an absorbing read, if strong language doesn't bother you. She returns to her childhood as the daughter of a vaudeville agent in London, relating her story to the present.

Her tumultuous, violence-filled love affair with drug addicted and alcoholic Ozzie Osbourne as well as her love-hate relationship with her less-than-honest father, who eventually becomes a rock star promoter representing some of the biggest names in the business, is fascinating.

Two other books I recently read that I definitely recommend are MOSCOW RULES and THE DEFECTOR by Daniel Silva. They need to be read in sequence as THE DEFECTOR brings to a conclusion a story line begun in MOSCOW RULES.

The protagonist, Gabriel Allon, is a member of the elite Israeli security force which hunted down the assassins at the Munich Olympics, systematically killing each of them.

He's also a gifted restorer of priceless art when he is not pursuing enemies of the Israeli state. In these two novels, he is called back to Israel from his honeymoon in Italy to track down the murderous Russian oligarch and arms dealer, Ivan Kharkov.

Faced with losing what he holds most dear, Gabriel will be tested in ways he never imagined possible.

Both great books....I couldn't put them down. There's a twist and turn on every page as well as a critical look at Russia today.

Silva, the author, has written nine previous books before the two above. He is an international artist whose works regularly appear on the #1 New York Times bestseller list.

He began his career in journalism working as a foreign correspondent for United Press International, serving as Chief Middle East Correspondent based in Cairo. He traveled extensively in the region and covered the Iran-Iraq war, terrorism, and political conflicts.

Though his books are fiction, his grasp of the political climate in the mideast as well as in Russia provides a realistic and accurate backdrop for the high drama that ensues.
