"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.  We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." Albert Einstein
Intuition is an incredible resource and gift that we have been given to help us live our best lives. I like to call it my internal GPS device.Â
It is when I have "reasoned" that I must have been mistaken when my "intuitive" mind spoke to me that have led to some of the biggest mistakes I have made in my life.
My intuitive mind, or intuition,  has always been exceptionally powerful; and I have learned over the years to listen and follow when it speaks to me.Â
What I have discovered about my intuitive mind is that it is also persistent--it will nag at me until I finally get the message. It may begin just as an uneasy feeling that something is not right about a given situation.
It will grow, though, beyond that initial inkling to a hunch to an absolute certainty.  That is the point at which I know with no doubt that I must follow what it tells me.
We all have that intuitive mind. Unfortunately, many of us do not know what it is or how to use it.
Theologian, Florence Scovel Shinn, once said, “Intuition is a spiritual faculty that doesn’t explain, but simply points the way.â€
It is also believed that intuition is our divine Spirit talking to us. If we would stop for a moment and ponder this concept, we would begin to realize the incredible power we have—that every answer to every question is right there within us.
And we don’t even have to get any special training to start using it.  All we  need to do is raise our awareness about it and set our intention to harness, cultivate and trust it.
Dawn McIntyre, a trained and verified professional who regularly lectures on the intuitive mind and has also authored several books on the subject, says this:
Intuitive urges are accurate information from a higher intelligence. An intuitive message ranges from hearing actual words, seeing a clear picture, or a deep inner knowing. Some people experience intuition as a feeling, others a gut reaction, some experience intuition as thoughts, others see images or have a dream, while some hear an actual message.
We all need to become familiar with how our inner self communicates with us. Then we will easily recognize it and begin trusting its voice.
It won't be the "rational" solution to our problem.
The rational mind always fights with the intuitive mind--constantly throwing up roadblocks as to why our intuitive mind is wrong.
The intuitive mind always tells us to follow our heart; the reasoning mind always blocks our way with logical arguments why we can't do that.
But, if we take some time to really think about and question what our intuitive mind is saying, it is NEVER, EVER wrong. It does not face in the direction of the easy solution; in fact, most often it requires us to make the hard choice.
It will lead, nonetheless, down the road we should go if we but listen; it may not be the most popular road in other's eyes; but it is the right road--always.
