For Grump ... They Call the Wind Mariah

Grump wanted each of us to pick a song that we thought defines us. I love this song--it says so much about my childhood, my youth and my life today. Here it is: They Call the Wind Mariah.

This version is not the one with which most people probably identify. The Kingston Trio made this a huge hit, but it was first sung in the Broadway smash, "Paint Your Wagon."

That later became a motion picture starring Lee Marvin and the song was a part of the movie as well. I chose this version because the graphics look so much like my childhood home. In a convoluted, jumbled, way that encompasses every moment in my life, I relate to this song.

um, sorry to burst your bubble, but that's not Robert Goulet. It's actually Harve Presnell, and the version here is from the movie version of Paint Your Wagon with Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood. Oh, and Goulet did not star in the play Paint Your Wagon. He starred in Camelot, another Lerner and Lowe show, on Broadway.
