Every year, I send them the same information which shows that there is an exception that applies in Publication 334, Chapter 5, page 26. Yes, I now have it memorized. I have had to send it to them at least six times. Â
I swear the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing in the IRS. They tell me that just because I send it to one branch of the IRS it does not show in my records in THEIR department!!
But here's the real kicker. These so-called "tax specialists," when I quote the exception to them--I know it by heart now--state that they are not aware of that tax law. If they don't know their own tax laws, how do they expect us to know them?
Of course, I'm the type to hunt down every exception that I can possibly find. They do not get a dime of my money unless they are entitled to it.
Today, it took me THREE hours just to get a live body on the line, so that I could once again get a fax number from them to send the information for the sixth or seventh year in a row. Then, they wanted me to stay on the line with them until the fax arrived in case they had additional questions, which of course they did.Â
I think I have the matter resolved again, FINALLY!
I'm stressed and exhausted. I just wish I had that warm body I'm waiting for to crawl in bed with tonight to rub the tension out of my back and shoulders.
