Girl Scout cookies have arrived. Big Sissy worked so hard, selling nearly two hundred boxes, over sixty of which she sold to send to her "Uncle Shauny" in Iraq. She asked each person she sold if he would like to buy an additional box to send to her "Uncle Shauny' (Bevan's brother),who is now serving in Iraq.
For all this hard work, she gets some menial little trinket. Girl Scouts now requires the girls to sell nearly 500 boxes actually to win a significant prize.
Instead, they now "reward" the girls "points" that they can apply toward another badge or girl scout camp. They also raised the cost of each box.
If you want my opinion--and I'm giving it whether you want it or not--one of our treasured institutions is now just another corporate giant interested in the all-mighty dollar. But the most abominable of this travesty is that they are exploiting children to add to their bottom line.
