In emotional moment, Obama invokes grandmother’s death to counter debunked “death panel†claim

I
truly cannot decide if former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin is just
stupid or a pathological liar. Her recent claim that the proposed
health care reform would set up "death panels" is obviously not true.
President
Obama, speaking at a town meeting in Grand Junction, Colorado, got
emotional invoking the memory of his grandmother in once again speaking
on the debunked issue of advanced planning directives being mandatory,
requiring elderly people to sign away their rights to care.
“I
just lost my grandmother last year. I know what it’s like to watch
somebody you love, who’s aging, deteriorate and have to struggle with
that,†an impassioned Obama told a crowd as he spoke of Madelyn Payne
Dunham. He took issue with “the notion that somehow I ran for public
office or members of Congress are in this so they can go around pulling
the plug on grandma.â€
“When
you start making arguments like that, that’s simply dishonest —
especially when I hear the arguments coming from members of Congress in
the other party who, turns out, sponsored similar provisions,†(
allowing Medicare to pay for voluntary advanced planning counseling)
Obama said.
I'm
reminded of Palin's constant insinuations during the campaign to
Obama's "palling around with terrorists," and that he was a Muslim
whose education was paid by a wealthy Muslim doctor from Texas.Â
Her
constant innuendos so incensed people that Senator McCain finally had to step in and
repudiate what she was saying, stating that his political adversary
was a good Christian man with whom he just happened to have political
differences.
The
ex-governorturned me off so completely during the campaign that I would have
voted for anyone else, even if I had been forced to write in a
candidate, before I would have cast my ballot on any ticket to which
she even got close.
In my worst nightmare, she could have become President if something had happened to McCain.
Even the Daily Oklahoman, owned by the Gaylord family, one of the wealthiest and most influential Republican families in America, called for her to drop off the ticket.
Ms.
Palin professes to be a Christian and I never judge one's personal
relationship with God. Therefore, I am forced to conclude the woman is
just stupid rather than a liar.Â
Please,
Sarah! Go back to Alaska, hunt your elk or whatever it is up there you
like to kill, and raise your family. Just stay out of politics because
everytime you open your mouth, another misrepresentation of the facts
comes out of it.
