Attitude is the Final Victor

When Darkness turns into light!

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.

Charles R. Swindoll quotes (American Writer and Clergyman, b.1934

Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn won the gold medal today.  All is well with the world.  She was the favorite; she was SUPPOSED to win, and she did.
Many will overlook the fact that this is her third Olympics...that she has tried two times before without even cracking the top five.  They will forget that she fell on her practice run four years ago, had to be rushed to the hospital, required forty stitches, came back the next day to ski but could only muster eighth.
They will question just how "bad" the bruise on her leg really is, since, after all, she did win in spite of it.
They will minimize the price she has paid now for some fifteen years--living in Europe away from her family, honing her skills, fighting through injuries and pain so that she could be where she had to be for this moment.
I'm convinced that life is much like sport.  There will be those in life who will fight through adversity, they will experience pain, they will endure setbacks; but in the end they will persevere.
But only the most exceptional will rise above the rest as thick, rich cream rises to the top of the milk.  Of the thousands of athletes at the Olympics, only precious few will even win a medal, much less a gold one.
So it is in life.  Only the most exceptional will achieve that ultimate goal. Why? Because they have an intangible that others do not. Some call it attitude.

Those who really know me understand that I have that intangible in me. Anything I do I want to be the best , and I will make the sacrifice and put in the time that it takes to be at the top. It is what drives me; it has carried me through some traumatic moments and it has strengthened me; yet, at the same time, it has softened me.

I apply the same principles to the people whom I love. I treat them with the utmost respect; I never lie or betray their trust, and I do everything within my power to cherish them. At the same time, I am a forgiving person when they fail.

I want to forgive them if they will but give me a chance. I know that I have to ask forgiveness if I have hurt someone. My conscience demands that I do. I find it incomprehensible that anyone would not want that burden lifted from his heart and soul.
