Some Sunday Morning

Well, it is Sunday and I have survived the 4th of July one more time. JoAnne is on her way to the Grand Canyon with her mother and the two girls in tow.

Had a bit of a scare on Saturday as one of the girls became ill. You know how it is. They are still minors and we do not have custody. We were afraid that the local clinic in Sacramento would not treat her without parents' consent.

Apparently it was not a problem. It was a urinary infection brought on by a long flight from Melbourne and not drinking enough liquid in that process. They gave her a prescription and they went on their merry way.

JoAnne called last night. They were in Bishop for the night and were doing fine. Girls were a bit grouchy because JoAnne would not let them read books in the car. Wanted them to converse and be social about the world they would be seeing around them.

The girls are just a bit a-social. There is nothing wrong with reading except that survival in this world is usually dependent on interaction with the people and world around you, so we pushed that envelope just a bit.

Yesterday morning was really nice in Sacramento, but Reno has a ton of smoke overhead. Problem is that that wonderful cool breeze that comes to us through the pass from the west also carries a ton of smoke with it. Health alert has been sounded and one should stay inside most of the day.

Damn! Our gardener did not show up yesterday to mow the lawn. It looks really shaggy. He had an emergency and will not be here until next Saturday.

I have no mower or rake here in Reno. Haven't adequate storage space if I did have one. Barely had enough space for the snow blower.

May just have to send him on down the road and hire a new gardener. Three weeks is a tad long to leave a lawn growing and he did not inform me that he was going to be gone, let alone be gone this long.

Oh well! Life is tough and then you die.

Y'all take care hear?

Sounds like the girls were a bit jet lagged, hope they're ok. Hope the water infection clears really soon
...'n'd' fire the damn gardener, familiarity breeds contempt!!! Get a new one and lay ground rules. 'This is... or 'you'r out!
