"Summertime
And the living is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high
Oh, your daddy's rich
And your mama's good lookin'
So hush little baby now
don't you cry
One of these mornin's
You're gonna rise up singin'
Then you'll spread your wings
And take to the sky
But til that mornin'
Ain't nothin' can harm you
With your daddy
And your mammy
standin' by."
- George Gershwin and Dubose Heyward, Porgy and Bess
I took this picture at Granville Island at the end of the last summer and when I spotted it today, I thought "I can't wait for summer to get here". I am so tired of the long dark winter we have had, of the snow, the ice, the grey sky, the slush, the puddles and I cannot wait to lie in fields of grass and feel the warm sun upon me.
