I meant to congratulate you folks on your choice of President, seems the entire electoral populace did not vote with it's head lodged firmly up it's butt this time! I was entirely caught up in the magic of the man, the message was uplifting and one that all could share... hope.

As a left wing (nut) blue collar Canadian, I always think of America as a bowl of granola - what ain't fruit and nuts is flakes. How did someone mix up socialism with communism (and completely miss facism)?

it's kind of a sick parallel - But it's the American way.

The markets are kicking hell out of my retirement funds, but I figure WTF, it'll go back up someday. I am enjoying this amazing fall. I am sitting here (in my new place) looking out the window at the fog shrouding the Patullo Bridge, it's like the bridge is peeking out of the blankets! There was frost here this morning (the first) and it is crisp and sunny just like a fall day should be. Sounds like you are gathering in the harvest for the long dark days of winter. I am hitting the farmers markets and doing a little gathering too, the root vegetables are perfect now. It is our Thanksgiving this weekend, so I need to get a pumpkin (no not pie but the most amazing cheesecake). I am also fostering a dog for a friend who is between lives right now (getting rid of house and husband and trying to find at least, a new place to live) so I am getting a ton of exercise walking the beast. I love the "change" seasons! It's winter and summer that scare me. Hope you have a great day and lucky you on the walnuts - we have chestnuts here and they are just getting ready to drop.

As a pagan I can appreciate the long history and tradition of Halloween, but the modern travesty is indeed horrid! Why can't we just slaughter a goat and be done with it.

Being Canadian has definite advantages, the number one being our Thanksgiving is in the 2nd week of October! And yes - we do slaughter a goat for that one. Old Canadian tradition that one, especially if you can't find a beaver.

And Christmas, what can I say except "What would Jesus do?". For starters, how about having a heart attack? Except I think I saw him the other day in Walmart, working as a greeter.

the pictures didn't work for me either, and you left out the one where the polar ate all the dogs! It was too cold for hot dogs so they must have been pupsicles. Sorry I could not resist.

beats the heck out of being "stuck in the middle with you"

Wants and needs, so totally different but most people rarely even think of that. I NEED to have a Mercedes is actually I WANT to have a Mercedes. Recognize the difference and life becomes much simpler. However it never hurts to recognize the wants in your life once in a while, like I WANT chocolate is always a good one.

for me it is "you people" since I am not American. Very interesting history lesson and we can learn a lot from history, I still think that religion and any mention of it, about it, for it or against it is not the place or purpose of an elected politician. Thanks for the interesting background.
Comment on Veteran Faith - Sept 20, 2008 3:22 PM ()
Politics and politicians mixed up with religion scare the heck out of me (just for a historical or hysterical reference please check out the dark ages, or the middle ages or any ages where the church took itself far too seriously) . Have we not fought long and hard for separation of church and state? What is wrong with you people, did someone put something in your water?

did the sun actually come up in PA today? We didn't get to see it in the lower mainland, cloudy as all get out. Have we had a good September or what, and lucky for you to get all that outside work done before the rains of forever start...
