Ham Potato Casserole

This is really good made with the homemade cream sauce. That's 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons flour, 2 cups milk.

1 1/2 cups ham bits and pieces
2 medium potatoes, sliced thin
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 cup cream of chicken soup with 1/2 cup milk, or 2 cups of homemade cream sauce
1/4 pound grated cheddar cheese

Allspice
Pepper if desired
2 tablespoons bread or cracker crumbs
Butter

Layer potatoes, ham, onion, cheese, cream sauce, and a dash of allspice to fill casserole. Add cream sauce over the top. Sprinkle with crumbs, dot with butter and bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

This is a great way to use up bits and pieces of ham.

I was surprised at how good it was. I think cream soup would overpower it.
