This hot weather has me thinking about frozen treats. Dreamsicles and Creamsicles have a creamy center inside an orange outer shell. The difference between a Dreamsicle and a Creamsicle is the Dream is ice milk center, and the Cream is ice cream.
Here is a make your own version that is lower calorie:
Orange Dreamsicle Delight
1 - .3oz box of Orange Flavor Sugar Free Jello
1 - 1oz box of Fat Free Sugar Free Vanilla Instant Pudding
1 - container of Cool Whip Free (8oz.)
Makes approximately 4 1-cup servings (Use the tupperware dessert containers and get 6 servings)
Prepare Jello according to package directions by adding the hot and cold water. Use a wire whisk to stir in instant pudding powder mix (do not prepare as normal). Fold in entire container of Cool Whip Free, and wisk until completely blended. Refrigerate for a few hours until set.
**you can also pour into ice cube trays and freeze, or into those popsicle molds that you freeze for a refreshing treat**
Number of Servings: 4
This cake isn't frozen, and you know I don't buy this kind of ingredients, but I'm hoping someone will make it and tell me how it turned out because it's such a different method for the topping. I didn't know there was such a thing as frozen coconut, I suppose it is more like grating your own.
Dreamsicle Cake
2 cups powdered sugar
1 (12 oz) bag frozen coconut
1 box orange cake mix
1 (16 oz) carton sour cream
1 (8 oz) carton Cool Whip
Mix together the sugar, coconut, and sour cream. Refrigerate overnight. Bake the cake mix in a greased 9 by 13 inch pan as directed on the box. Cool completely. Stir the Cool Whip into the coconut/sour cream mixture and spread onto the cooled cake. Keep refrigerated.

Last and not least, how about that Dreamsicle flavor in a beverage?
Vodka Dreamsicle
Fill a mixing cup with 1/2 way with ice.
1/2 oz. Vodka or Orange Vodka
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1 oz. Orange Juice
1 oz. Cream or scoop of vanilla ice cream
Shake all ingredients well and strain into a cocktail glass.
Use a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of cream & ice, and you've got a Dreamsicle. Serve in a large stem or hurricane glass.
