Doughnuts or Donuts

image

These particular doughnuts are supposedly made from those Grands refrigerated biscuits. I don't like refrigerated quick doughs because I can always taste the leavening in them, even in those rising pizza crusts.

No doughnut recipe here, I'm just sharing the photo because when I saw it in an email this morning, it took my breath away.

However, here's an easy recipe that would be easy to whip up to satisfy a midnight craving. You can also make it with graham crackers.

Cracker Toffee Bars

1 sleeve Keebler or Ritz butter crackers
1 cup butter (not margarine)
1 cup granulated sugar
12 ounces milk chocolate morsels

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 10 x 15-inch pan with foil and spray with Pam. Arrange crackers in a single layer over foil. In medium saucepan combine butter and sugar and bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute and gently pour over crackers. Bake 10 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate morsels over top. Wait 2 to 3 minutes until morsels begin to melt and carefully spread melted chocolate over top. Cool and refrigerate for a few hours. Remove from fridge and break into bars following cracker lines as a guide. Top with crushed honey-roasted peanuts if desired.

I'm not feeling too inspired today, so this is all you get.

It sounds great to me. I found some vegetable crackers at the grocery store
and they were delicious altho I only allowed myself two. When I get down to
my fighting weight, I am going to go to the bakery and eat all the doughnuts
that I can.
