Three Cheese Noodle Bake

This is another version of macaroni and cheese. I haven't tried it yet, I'm putting it here so I'll be able to find it quickly when I'm ready to make it.

2 cups egg noodles (or macaroni or small shells)
1 cup cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
1/2 cup sour cream (can be low fat or fat free)
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons butter

1. Cook noodles al dente. Drain. Set aside.
2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together cottage cheese, sour cream, parmesan, 1 egg, 1 cup cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, milk, butter or margarine, and salt and pepper. Stir in cooked noodles. Spread into a 9 inch square baking dish, top with remaining shredded cheese. (Cover with foil if desired.)
3. Bake at 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) for one hour, or until set.

I had to go shopping for all the cheeses. It was very good but will be even better next time when I add chopped broccoli and some onion and maybe a little chopped ham and some wine.

That sounds like a great improvement, especially the onion.

It's baking right now. Looks like a lot of macaroni. I don't think it would have fit in a 9" square pan. I put it in a 9" X 13" pan. Maybe it's supposed to be 2 cups of *cooked* macaroni??

I think macaroni would be "bigger" than flat noodles so it might cook up to be more, and take up more room. You had all those ingredients? I've got cottage cheese but no sour cream.

I've printed this one. Yum!

why does everything have worchester sauce in it? Sounds YUMMY though!!!

W-sauce adds that extra little kick, but you could put a little dash of Tabasco if you have it. There are fads in recipes. If this had been written in the mid-60s it would have called for Accent, and if it was written last month it'd call for smoky paprika. Heck, I've got paprika that's older than you, and it's not smoky. How many deviled eggs can a person eat in their lifetime? That's the main use for paprika.
