left home in the car decided town called ST ARNAUD 600kms would be far enough first day and had booked into cabin at local park.
we had a stop for lunch time at HORSHAM --- large town on the main highway---photo shows the old area



TUCKER TIME

We turned of here and with 160ks thought we had it beat until well out, i looked at the fuel gauge. oh! oh!it getting low, but a quick look at the map showed 2 towns enroute --pulled into the first ---old town --most shops shut no petrol---same at the next --looked like it built 150years ago during gold rush no petrol still 40kms to go gauge bouncing between low and empty
Pass 10 km to go sign gauge just above line --pass 5km to go, say to Cath we can walk from here, with a big sigh of relief in we arrived in town ans see a sign saying 24hr petrol, just as well we had a credit card because the station consisted of one petrol pump which was operated by the internet connection just like banking.
after sorting that out and filling up we went on to the cabin at the park, where we found the office got closed at 5pm, looking at my watch which said 4.45pm i realized we had crossed over to eastern time zone, just as well there was a phone outside the office to contact the caretaker, who arrived and booked us in.
We were both glad to relax finally---clean up coffee and a feed ---into the cot with 165ks to go
