The Dirty Thing Made Me Some Money

---------------------------INSTALLING A SEPTIC SYSTEM---------------------------------------------

Information on bricks for the dry well were provided by Dirty Body, who took me to an old foundry site where a wall was still standing,on scouting the place out found a lot of old steel castings all over the property and in the sandhill behind, there was tons of scrap all over.

Alec said if this was in Adelaide 200 miles south we would be able to sell it there, the question was -how--and cost----- but first could we get permission, hang on i said Whyalla steel mills only 60 miles away so gave them a phone call, the reply was---yes---18 pounds a ton ($36)---okay how to get it there, we went down to a local carrier looking for ideas who informed us he would be able to supply a crane and semi trailer and deliver for $14 a ton.
Next was permission to be able to salvage it all, as the place was derelict we found out who owned it and wrote to them seeking the rights , offered as sweetner to clean up the property as well.
In the meantime we did get the bricks and finished the dry well, a week later i received a letter giving permission..
Just as well we got it in writing, first time we got the trailer and crane to load, the manager of an engineering firm next door came rushing over to order us off, he informed us he owned the scrap that was lying around ready for loading, it gave me great pleasure to flash my letter under his nose, and boy was he unhappy, turned out the social club he ran for his employees was financed by them taking the scrap to Whyalla, and seeing that i had permission to remove it there was nothing he could do.
Opportunity did knock and for once i grabbed it, Alec and i had to register as a business and get a license to deal in scrap metal, MR B done that for us, and we were home and hosed, we still worked as wharfies when required, so with extra money the house i was building went ahead in leaps and bounds and i was financial at last.
