Innocent

This is going to turn into a jumble of thoughts, so bare with me on this one.

I am hearing things lately that are....lets just say disappointing. Disappointing that in a society that has "matured" and learned to live with a great deal of changes, that there are SO many ignorant, and uncaring people out there.
As most of my friends on here know, one of our babies was born with Downs Syndrome. To me and Sharon, she is the most beautiful little baby in the world. We see our little girl, nothing else. Since the emergence of Sarah Palin into the political seen, there has been allot of talk about her child with Downs Syndrome. People calling him a "retard" and such.
Why?.......does it feel good to attack someone that can't fight back?
A baby is an innocent, if these people had any honor whatsoever they would DEFEND an innocent. And as a child with Downs Syndrome grows up....guess what...they are still innocent. Leave them alone, let them be children, let them grow up, and let them live as normal a life as they can playing the cards that they have been dealt. They may not be as smart as some of us, but Lord knows I know allot of people without handicaps that are a few fries short of a happy meal.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but come on people show a little compassion, have a little common sense and think before you say something that can be hurtful. And most of all, if you want to attack someone, don't be a chickensh*t and go after someone that can't defend themselves, but attack someone that can fight back.

Very, very well said Tony and I couldn't agree more. There was a bit of a stink on here about a month ago because another blogger referred to Sarah Palin's child as *the retarded one*. Grumpy and I both jumped in there and defended the innocent child and other children that are challenged. I almost left here because I was attacked on my blog here just for standing up for challenged children and my belief to do so. I too do not understand how people can be so shallow. As I said in a comment to the blogger on here that said that I said...This could have been you or me that was challenged too!!

God bless you both and your beautiful children!!

People fear what they don't know. If they were to meet a Downs Syndrome child they would not say cruel things.

I don't think all people MEAN to say hurtful things, it's just that they aren't thinking before they speak... perhaps they are a bit daft?

it makes me mad when I see people single someone out and laugh behind their back. As if they are so perfect! I have a regular customer at walmart, an older mom and her mentally challenged son. He is probably around 20 years old. But when he sees me I get a big hello, and a smile that could melt icebergs!
