My birth name is Alfredo Rossi
My parents are from Naples,Italy.
When they came over here via Ellis Island.
All of the nine children were born in America.
They could not speak English well if any.
When my mother gave birth all of the name or most of them were in Italian.
I have been called many names like Freddie,fredo,Alfred etc.
Growing up and enter my school years I was ashamed of my name and did not want to be called Freddi,Fredo etc.
Most of the time I sign my name Alfred and not Alfredo.
Did not want my buddies to know this.
So they start calling me Al.
Most of my growing up years were Al.Some of my sibling will still call me Fredo or Freddie.
Then as I mature and learning so much about the Italian way of life start to appreciated this.
Was not ashamed any more.
Now after all of these years being called Al and very hard to change it back to Fredo.
Did not want to be call Al any more.
Either Alfredo or Fredo
It is slowly coming but hard to do with some of my friends.

One nephew Name was William Le Bouef.
We always called him Billy.
Then when old we are not to call him Billy any more.
It is Willie.
What trying to say that do not be ashamed of the name that your parents gave you.
Will be hard and finally some are calling me mostly Fredo.
This I like .
Mike has a hard time with this but slowly coming around to it.When he is cross with me I hear Al!!!!!!!!!!lol

Even when I did not add the o to name they questioned me.
