I’m sure most of you have seen or read about the horrible bushfires that have killed so many in Australia. I cannot even begin to imagine the heartbreak of all those whose lives have forever been touched. The devastation and loss of life is beyond comprehension.
Along with all the people who have been affected, so have many dogs. A fundraiser has been set up to help those so desperately in need. See how you can help, or join in, the International Virtual Dog Show.
International Virtual Dog Show
Fundraiser for those affected by the Victorian bushfires
In response to the bushfires that have ravaged through the Australian state of Victoria, DOGS Victoria (the state body of the ANKC) has set up a bushfire appeal with all money donated to this fund going to assisting anyone who needs help caring for their dog after the fires.
To further this fundraising effort an International Virtual Dog Show has been set up with all proceeds going toward the bushfire appeal. This is already attracting interest from many countries around the world including the UK, USA, Canada, Portugal, Italy and Norway, just to name a few.
DOGS Victoria cannot believe the overwhelmingly positive response from the dog community around the world as everyone rallies together to assist those affected by the fires.
This will, of course, not be a physical dog show. However, a show catalogue will be created with the name of all dogs entered.
All dogs are eligible to enter - they do not need to be pedigreed, nor even alive. There will be a class for “Rainbow Bridge” to commemorate the dearly departed dogs who have made a lifelong imprint on your heart. There will also be a “progeny of mixed marriages” class for those without a pedigree (Class 8). No dog will be denied entry in the show.
The entry fee is AU$10 per dog and there is no limit to the number of entries.
Details can be found online at www.dogsvictoria.org.au. Overseas entrants are invited to pay via Pay Pal. Please email their entries to Marilyn Adams on glentress@bigpond.com with your details and your dog’s. Please also let her know that you have paid online.
Although Marilyn loves to receive photos of dogs, she is concerned that her email account will be overwhelmed so please don’t send photos. Many dog chat sites on other online networking sites (such as Facebook) have set up communities for this dog show and we suggest you share your photos there.
All international donations go to:
Account name: DOGS VICTORIA BUSHFIRE APPEAL
Bank: BENDIGO BANK
BSB: 633-000
ACCOUNT NUMBER: 136225588
SWIFT CODE: BENDAU3B (for overseas donations only)
In the payment memo, please put your name.
Our condolences go out to our Aussie friends.
