This is the most inspiring story!!! I have tears running down my cheeks as I type. I saw a program on fistulas in Ethiopia a few years ago, cause by young girls being forced to marry and have children as young as 12... and when they develop a fistula they are simply cast out to fend for themselves. I cannot imagine the terror and tragedy and misery. What a wonderful thing Rainy and the Doctors are doing... but why, I wonder, don't the local people care? How can they as professedly devout christians simply reject their children and wives and not care about their misery? Why does it take people from another hemisphere to care and do something? There's not a lot about most humans to admire, and so much to admire about a few like all those volunteers.

Bullying has become so rife in Australia there are anti-bullying seminars everywhere, and special classes for children at all levels of school in bullying, how to recognise it, what to do about it and so on. It is the cause of many youth suicides. Perhaps it is the inevitable result of our aggressive political system that is based on confrontation rather than consensus, and overpopulation. it is well known that cattle that are overcrowded become aggressive, bullying and develop stomach ulcers... humans are no different.

What is really disgusting about this story and the responses here, is that the primary cause of these bashings is never mentioned. Let's get this straight! The sole cause for homophobia, hate crimes - bashings and murders is religion. Especially most Christian sects and Muslims. But while there is a conspiracy of silence about this, nothing will change. Those who refuse to name the cause, are as guilty as the perpetrators.

It's time humans stopped worshipping idols

For every cow/steer that's turned into steaks, half an acre of Brazilian rainforest is destroyed to grow soy beans to ship to the feedlots where cattle are imprisoned in appalling conditions until slaughter. Half an Amazonian Indian also loses his livelihood and is forced to move to overcrowded slums in gigantic mega cities to live a life of crime, prostitution and misery. Enjoy your steaks.
BTW... visiting places like Walmart is now a recognised addiction and is deleterious to health. I believe there are clinics now to treat such problems, although the withdrawal symptoms can be severe.... compensated by the feeling of pride in not wasting the earth's resources.

I find it dd that nowhere in this article does it mention the Australian Open where he Acquitted himself so well.... We all know the USA has the worst education standards in the world, but there is half the world south of the equator. Seems nothing has changed since the last time i was in the USA. Credit cards are evil.... cut up the Walmart card. they tempt you to spend. The only plastic money anyone should have is a Debit card issued by your bank. you use it like a credit card, but can only spend what is in your account. You'd be amazed at how things you thought you had to have suddenly seem silly and vain.
