Need Advice-lawyers

I need advice on a couple of things. Number one, where to find a good lawyer and number 2 what I should do is this case matter.
My boyfriend's car was acting up about a month ago. So we took it in and had it looked at. They told us everything that was wrong with it, and we decided to call our loan place to get another loan to fix these problems. We had them fixed, and about 2 weeks later after spending 1500 dollars or more in repairs, we were driving down the interstate heading to work, and the rpm's were going going crazy. Will tryed to see if the gear had slipped or if something happened to it. He couldn't find anything, but the RPM's kept going higher. So I pulled off on the side of the road. As the car was shifting down into first gear, and no this isn't a manuel transmission, but as it was going into first gear, every gear it went down it shifted real hard, and we went foward everytime. Like I was slamming on the breaks real hard. Finally the car came to a stop, and a big popping noise was made and it stunk real real bad. Will got out of the car to see what was going on as I popped the hood. He got back in the car and goes shut it off, shut it off. I shut the car off and got out, transmission fluid was spraying everywhere. As we just spend a coupld hundred dollars fixing problems with this car, he called up the place where he bought the car at because he hasn't had it but for a short period of time. The place that he bought it at agreed that since it was faulted and part shouldn't have been having this problem, they agreed to fix some of the problems. We called the macanic that fixed the problem originally, and he said that yeah no problem if there is a cost we will go ahead and fix it. The other macanic shop that the car was at put transmission fluid in the car, and repaired the broken hose that was on it. We drove it back to our house after it put us out of work for the day, and when we got 30 miles out and started putting the breaks on and going from 1st gear to 2nd, it started slipping real bad. We took it back to the macanic shop and they said it is completely normal for a car to do that. We were like I don't think so, so we took it down to my dad who lives about 30 miles away and he said that it needs fixed before we completely total the car. He said what happened as the place we towed it to, explained what happened with the hose. The automotive shop who fixed it the first time and got a good chunk of change said they couldn't do anything and couldn't fix the problem, when we already know it wasn't our fault, and we spent a lot of money fixing this problem that was already. We had two macanics look at it, and say what happened, so we know that it wasn't out fault. I just need advice on what to do, or some legal advice. Thanks Have a good day Blue

The only lawyer I would deal with is one that is recommended by a few locals. As for the mechanics... I'd be interested in seeing the replies myself.
