Sunday, a good day.
The sun's coming up to burn off the light frost from overnight and wisps of steam float up off the creek.
The bird feeder's empty and the chickadees protest loudly reminding me that they need food to fuel their tiny furnaces - so get at it!
It's 2C or 36F here this morning - the chilliest I can remember since April sometime.
And although the light of a new day is always a welcomed sight, I sigh and realize that summer is fading fast.
This summer has been a record breaker for me - sunning, swimming, reading, gardening, visiting family and friends and just soaking it all in!
I mentioned in an earlier post about my losing weight. From April to August the final figure came to 25lbs and for that I am proud and thankful.
Looking in the mirror I recognize myself again and feel healthier and more energetic.
This accomplishment was the 'cherry on the cake' of my great summer.
Now as the planets move and shift into Fall mode, I find myself starting to think inward and preparing things for Winter.
Most important for me is paper, kindling, wood for the airtight (which I haven't fired up yet - but will soon), cleaning out gardens, dealing with patio furniture, bringing out my trusty down duvet, putting away sunscreen and citronella and setting out mousetraps (don't ask, I don't even want to go there!).
Most years the summers seem to fly by. This year I feel that I really got a lot of quality time and enjoyment out of the season.
Could it be true or am I feeling lightheaded because of my weight loss?
Whatever.
So I'm not feeling too badly this morning about the low temperature but sure am happy that I took these pictures yesterday! Not sure how they would have survived the night . . .
Seasons change and so do I . . (Burton Cummings said that)
Now I'm looking forward to the vibrant colours of the changing leaves, a fire softly burning and supper on the stove . . (John Denver said that).
Life is good.

Here are a few shots of various flowers I took yesterday while out on a walk around my town.
Please don't ask me the names of these plants - you know I'm terrible at that!
You figure it out . . . xxx
the fireplace this past week. Congratulations on the weight loss.
