I've been busy lately - last minute Christmas shopping, cleaning and tidying this old house in preparation for the family coming home for the Holidays, keeping the fire going etc.
Being productively busy is how I like to be.
Some days are easier than others.
On an "off" day sometimes it's difficult to maneuver and I swear that a good shot of WD-40 to my hip and leg joints might bring some relief. I have yet to try it although it was recommended by a long gone "good old boy" born and raised in this sleepy old town I live in. He was the same old man that would "buy" your warts. He would give you a coin, you had to go bury it and presto! the wart would disappear. Another remedy that I haven't tried but doesn't it make for a good story?
Anyway, I've feen feeling rather energetic lately so I'm taking advantage of it.
Being born under the astrological sign of Taurus on the cusp of Aries (astrology is interesting but I'm not a fanatic), I am an earth person, lover of nature needing a sense of order in my life, a creature of habit and my home is my castle - all true.
Being that creature of habit, I like my morning chores especially at this time of year; starting the morning fire, sipping strong, hot coffee from my thermal mug (I'm a slow drinker), sitting by the woodstove in a comfy chair that's angled so I can see outside overlooking my garden and the creek.
I sit quietly and pray and/or meditate and read for awhile.
Sometimes I find inspiration or an idea to write about - like I did today. This is one of my most cherished times.
My daily activities from there on really depend on 1)how do I feel? 2)what needs to be done today? 3)is the sun shining? (big factor) 4)does it REALLY need to be done today? - you get the drift.
Meal times are iffy. I find it hard to cook for one but I'm getting better at it.
Evenings are another favourite time for me - chores done, feet up, a good book or tv program, the fire at my back - yes!
Then comes the best time of all - bedtime!
Over the past 10 years I've invested in a really good bed, a down duvet and pillows that I've searched all my life for.
While nestling, I read for awhile or listen to classical music until I drift off to sleep to the white noise effect of the creek outside my window.
One of the many things that I give thanks for everyday is "creature comforts."
My Mother used that term and I never fully appreciated it until now - how important it is and how fortunate I am to have them.
It's a good life!
Party on (comfortably)xxx
