Atmosphere for Miracles

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of events and emotions.
Last week I took the bus to my original hometown - Toronto to spend time with my brother and his wife and was there for almost 7 days. It was wonderful to get away after a long, cold winter up here and a good time was had by all.
However, I'm guessing that since I haven't taken the bus in 6 or 8 months, I seem to be experiencing something that I suffered with as a kid - motion sickness - not enough that I'd hurl or anything, just that "not so nice" feeling in my stomach. Next time I think I'll take along some crystallized ginger to munch on. Don't want to take gravol as that knocks me out and I really enjoy the scenery while on the bus. Anyway, the trip was most pleasant and I plan on going back down again before another 6 or 8 months rolls around.
Coming home was joyous! Back to my own bed, back to my own "stuff" and back to my happy routine of life that I've created for myself.
I have to explain why the coming home was such a big deal for me.
Last year, my son and I found a house and property near the family cottage in south eastern Ontario. We made an offer to buy it while putting our old house here on the market.
Long story short, the house we thought we wanted was sold and we were left here - this place still on the market.
If you've ever bought and/or sold a house, you'll appreciate how stressful it is having strangers trapse through your private castle . . kind of invasive. But that's all in the game of selling your house, right?
So then we thought 'now what?'
After much thought, we finally decided to take our house off the market and stay here.
I didn't fully realize the impact that decision would have on me.
The stress relief factor had a physical impact on me. I knew in my heart that we had made the right decision and I'm just so damned happy to have my house back!!
It always was mine but now I'm feeling a renewed sense of appreciation for the 8 years we've been here and all we've done to improve and maintain it.
I truly do love my house and home and for that I'm truly thankful.
So, knowing all that, you'll understand why I've been as busy as the weather permits to get my perennial gardens groomed for their best summer yet!
Plus, my health is improving with the better weather and the fact that I've dropped 10lbs of lard off my respective butt is only making me feel younger and lighter!!
Today is my birthday (no applause please!) and I've literally been blown away with gifts, flowers, phone calls from across the globe, notes on F/B and the list goes on and on!
Yup, I'm feeling like a million bucks today. Not just because it's my birthday but because of how richly blessed I am.
One thing that was brought to my attention today though was the power of "communication." Whether on F/B or by blog, via Skype or however you reach out to touch/communicate with people, the power/effect that you have by what you say or write or post is incredible!
It has a boomarang effect . . .
Knowing that I will continue sharing all the good things in life that I experience with my kids, family and friends like you.
Actually, I feel like Dorothy when she picked up Toto and said, "there's no place like home . . ."
That feeling creates an atmosphere for miracles.
Stay tuned . . .

Happy Birthday. You are so right about the stress of having your house on
the market. Been there, done that and I grew to hate the real estate people.
We took the house off the market and by a miracle a couple happened along and
bought it so we could move closer to the children.

The best thing about going away for a bit is coming back home. It sounds like putting it on the market for awhile helped you to see your home in a whole new light - it's as if you did move somewhere new, even you really didn't. Best wishes for a great year to come.

Wonderfully expressed, Pat. So happy for you — and sending you a bunch of blooming joy to plant in that garden of yours. Happy Birthday, too!
