Because I am partly busy and mostly lazy, and have been hung up on this post in the other blog, and since it is still hung up in Congress and still pertinent, I decided to port it over here.
As follows:
Now some of the Republicans in Congress are saying, "well the Democrats have the majority; they could do this themselves if they wanted to". Yeah, great! then they would go into the Tax Tax Spend Spend bit. Our own Congressman is voting against it (again! I think). One commentator said they are voting NO and praying YES, and I can understand that.
As a Democrat, I have a plan. Seriously Folks.
Why don't we just bail them out enough for operating expenses so they will not have to close shop - a small dose of socialism (back just the minimum amount to prevent a catastrophe). Then go out for bids on the mortgage-backed securities - open bidding world wide - see how much they are actually worth on the world market. Capitalism at it's best!
On eBay??-kidding.
Of course this could mean the Chinese would have a big stake in our finances (is that new?).
