Neanderthal Art and Other Interesting Things

Neanderthals weren't as brutish as you have been led to believe.

Evidence that they made and colored shells to be worn as jewelry has been found in Spain.

Jewelry making is a very advanced art. It takes good hand to eye coordination, selective judgemental skills. And a good sense of color coordination. After lab tests were done on the shell jewelry to determine what pigaments had been used it was discovered that the Neanderthals were using the same exact type of pigaments that the ancient Egyptians had used thousands of years later. The pigaments had to be gathered up from nature, ground down and mixed with water to make them viable for use. Then Neanderthal had to create tools for boring holes in the shells. The process to make a single piece of jewelry was a complicated one.
Their Haplo Group was S, this had been derived from five specimins and isn't conclusive regarding the total population that had lived in various parts of Spain, Turkey and France.
Haplo Group S persons come from Papua New Guinea. Here are photos of the possible descendants of the Neanderthal. You be the judge.

I was surprised when the articles I read didn't include Australian Aborigines. Since they have heavy brow ridges,

I had written before how the Neanderthal buried their dead along with flowers and tools as well as the pigament The next image shows this actual burial:

That a century ago scientists and people claimed Neanderthal a brutish type person had to be based upon egotistic reasoning that modern humankind was the highest breed of people on the planet to date and that their forebears and ancestors were primitive beings. The evidencecounter to this reasoning  comes to light even as I am writing this blog entry.

Think about it for a moment:
It just might be us that have gone into a state of regression despite all our technological advances.

It seems that MyBloggers's image uploader has gone hay wire....Sorry about that....Those images were stunning.
