The Wetest Part of Britain
You might want to visit the Rhondda Valleys, in Wales, if you have a particular interest in male voice choirs, the history of coal mining or rugby union, all of which form an important part of the local culture. You are unlikely to visit, however, for the weather.
Rhondda is wet, very wet. In fact, it is by some margin the wettest part of Britain. Average annual rainfall in the valleys, according to the Met Office, is a sponge-wringing 2,094mm; the next wettest place, the western Scottish town of Greenock, although itself no Sahara, gets one-quarter less rain – 1,502mm.
