It's been 1 of those weeks. First the furnace broke. Thankfully the weatherman was wrong, really cold weather will arrive MUCH later. Got up early to clean house before Troy was to arrive(the AC/ Heating repair guy where I wrk; hence much cheaper, a side-job on his lunch break...thankfully I wrk only 10 minute drive from my house). I'll be damned, broke a vacuum belt rendering it useless. Then the foyer/dinning room light blew out; at least I had a back-up bulb (old-fashioned bulb replaced with new swirly florescent type bulb). Then tried to replace batteries in the "fancy-electronic" AC/heater thermostat. It proceeded to break - after 3 packs of batteries, have ruled out bad luck in buying dead batteries...tried cleaning the connections with no success. Tried slapping/ punching thermostat (well, that method worked in the past!); NO luck, still says low battery (ironically, thermostat was working TILL I tried replacing batteries). To top it all off, Troy decided to take a "day-off" and never did show up! Put 3 blankets on my bed and slept well enough. Next day, Went to work and paged Troy, at least he answered page...will come out "tomorrow". Computer keeps "updating" Java script and somehow resets my Internet connection to "NO connection". Shit, what else can break down on me...lol. Just 1 of those weeks, ain't much going right. Finally, to top it all off, as i was going to work, went to break out my winter coat; I'll be damned, it was NO WHERE to be found. Damn kids stole my coat AGAIN! At this point, I could either laugh or cry. Did my best to try to laugh, scrounged up several layers of light weight sweaters/jackets and went to work; trying 2 B positive. God love my crazy/confused residents! As 1 resident was trying to "find her way home", I made-up a story that we all were "abducted by aliens" (a conglomeration of Star Trek, Alien, Poltergeist, and any "sci-fi" storey that came to mind). Then I noticed that the resident was "hanging on my every word", and the other near-by residents were quite amused as well, as wewll as staff being amused. For a magical moment, reality was left far behind in the absurdity
of my story telling! Laughter and camaraderie does warm the soul; I just hope n pray i get my furnace fixed.
